Company History
Prionics was created in 1997 as a spin-off from Zurich University.
Our name derives from the technical term “Prion”, the short for the infectious agent proteinaceous infectious particle (-on by analogy to virion), and reflects our core competence in prion and other zoonotic diseases. Prionics is committed to bringing new diagnostics solutions to reference laboratories, veterinarians and other animal health professionals worldwide to protect consumer health.

Corporate and Regional Structure
Prionics is divided into four Business Units and comprises of five 100% owned affiliates and selected distribution partners around the world. Prionics is also a majority shareholder of IDnostics, a spin-off specializing in novel animal identification and food safety solutions.
