PrioCHECK[HOCH]®[/HOCH] BVDV Ag PI[HOCH]focus[/HOCH]

About the PrioCHECK[HOCH]®[/HOCH] BVDV Ag PI[HOCH]focus[/HOCH]

With the PrioCHECK® BVDV Ag PIfocus Prionics is able to offer a diagnostic solution, based on ELISA-technology, which detects persistently infected animals with an unprecedented high accuracy. The ELISA can detect the BVDV-antigen in ear tissue samples (see TypiFix™ page) and can differentiate between persistently infected (PI) and acutely infected animals. The test is recommended for use in cattle that are not influenced by maternal antibodies.

Test procedure

The PrioCHECK® BVDV Ag PIfocus assay is a rapid, sensitive and highly specific test for the detection of PI-animals that demonstrate the BVDV p80 antigen in cattle. The method for BVDV antigen detection is a sandwich ELISA giving a signal proportional to the sample antigen concentration. The antigen test detects the BVDV using two monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that recognize different epitopes on the highly conserved NS3 non-structural protein (p80) of BVDV. One of these mAbs is labelled with an enzyme that generates a color signal. The sample is positive when color has formed.

 

Performance

The PrioCHECK® BVDV Ag PIfocus was tested in a German laboratory ring trial that was held in 2006 by the Friedrich Löffler Institute (FLI), the German responsible authority. The reliable ELISA test identified all bovine ear notch samples tested correctly.
