About the PrioCHECK[HOCH]®[/HOCH] CSFV Ag
The early detection of CSFV infected pigs is of extreme importance to contain the spread of CSFV. Consequently, when tracing potentially infected herds, the focus is on the detection of CSFV-antigens, rather than CSFV-antibodies, because they appear approximately 14 days after infection.
The PrioCHECK® CSFV Ag is a direct ELISA for the detection of the CSFV antigen in whole blood, plasma, serum and tissue specimens. In CSFV endemic areas, where often vaccination is applied, the PrioCHECK® CSFV Ag can be used to trace the residual foci of CSFV.
Preferably, under all circumstances, "guided" sampling should be practiced when collecting samples in order to enhance the diagnostic sensitivity of the PrioCHECK® CSFV Ag.
Test procedure
The PrioCHECK® CSFV Ag is based on the double-antibody-sandwich (DAS) principle. Plates are coated with CSFV-specific polyclonal antibodies. CSFV proteins in the sample are captured by these specific antibodies and visualized using a monoclonal anti-CSFV antibody conjugated to an enzyme that generates a color signal. The signal is measured and when the viral protein is present in the sample a color signal will appear.
