About the PrioCHECK[HOCH]®[/HOCH] CSFV Ab
The PrioCHECK® CSFV Ab is an indirect ELISA for the detection of antibodies directed against CSFV in pigs. The test detects antibodies against high-, moderate- and low virulent CSFV-strains early after infection. The detection of antibodies elicited by low virulent CSFV strains is of paramount importance to trace sub clinical CSFV infections.
The PrioCHECK® CSFV Ab uses the mAbs to measure the binding of CSFV antibodies in the test sample directed against the E2-protein of CSFV.
Test procedure
The key reagents, used in the PrioCHECK® CSFV Ab, are two monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that are directed against different epitopes on the envelope protein E2 of CSFV. One mAb is bound to the test plate; the other, the detection antibody, is conjugated to an enzyme that generates a color signal. The signal is then measured and when no color is formed, the sample containing anti-CSFV antibodies that have competed for the available antigen is positive for CSFV.
Performance
The PrioCHECK® CSFV Ab has been used successfully by the Animal Science Group in Lelystad in their eradication program of CSFV in the Netherlands in 1997 and 1998. Positive ELISA sera were verified in the Virus Neutralization Test (VNT). Using this integrated approach, approximately 166,000 serological samples taken from a total of 429 outbreaks were handled in a period of 16 months, thanks to the use of the automated CSFV ELISA.
