About the PrioCHECK[HOCH]®[/HOCH] BVDV Ab
The PrioCHECK® BVDV Ab is a valuable tool in large-scale screening and eradication programs. The test can detect infected animals in a vaccinated population. The PrioCHECK® BVDV Ab detects antibodies against different subtypes of BVDV (Ia, Ib, and II) in serum, plasma, and bulk milk samples of cattle.
Test procedure
PrioCHECK® BVDV Ab is an inhibition ELISA giving a reciprocal signal with the sample antibody concentration. It employs two monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). The two mAbs recognize different epitopes located on the highly conserved NS-3 non-structural protein (p80) of BVDV.
One mAb is coated to the plate. The sample is then incubated with the inactivated BVDV antigen in the wells of the coated plate. Then, a second mAb, coupled with an enzyme that generates a color signal, is added. The signal is then measured and when no color is formed, the sample containing anti-BVDV antibodies that have competed for the available antigen is positive for BVDV.
