Safe sampling
The Prionics spoon has been developed particularly for the sampling of brain tissue. After removing the head from the carcass the relevant expert in the slaughter-house uses this spoon to remove a sample of the brain stem through the foramen magnum.
The spoon was designed to meet the requirements of slaughterhouse operation, and features sharp edges, allowing easy and safe removal of brain tissue through the spinal cord canal. The special design and the long handle prevent the staff, who are removing the samples, from coming into contact with animal tissue. Owing to the easy handling and the high level of safety, the spoon offers the best possible conditions for sample collection.
The spoon for sample collection in cattle is available in steel or plastic. A smaller steel version is also available for sheep sampling.
